This time from my book: “Gods Reasons For Creating A Human Family”, chapter “Churches Adjusting to Jesus’ Vision” that everyone should know. Today, it is a truth that there are a lot of people looking for a church that fits the Bible. They are asking these churches if they have a Godly vision and many have no vision other than trying to keep church going. The Church Jesus created had a vision that has never changed. A major part of Jesus’ vision is to train and increase, not just recruit people to fill up pews. So, it is importance to know a church vision, knowing if you will be growing in Lord or becoming a student never graduating.
Another possible question is, how many local churches this church has a good relationship with, to see if they are focused on self or their community. Another possible downside is mans plan can grow spiritually weaker. Another downside is that man’s can grows weaker because their plan was not the plan Jesus had for them.
Sometimes local Christians do not unite as parts of the entire body of Christ, their focus can move more toward individualism or social events resulting in decrease instead of increase. The modern church is more driven toward programs, inspirations, buildings and advertisements, rather than going out and getting people saved and bringing them to meet their new brothers and sisters in the Lord.
A lot of the reason for a congregation’s lack of winning souls is because they are not being taught how or why. Their focus is on the preaching getting everyone saved. But, this does not line up with God’s Word. Notice in this Scripture where Jesus appointed leaders before he ascended to heaven. He does not tell them to save everyone, or be the churches daddy, but to teach them to operate their ministry. “Jesus’ gifts were [varied; appointed (men) to some apostles (messengers), some prophets (preachers), some evangelists (missionaries), some pastors (shepherds) and teachers). (Ephesians 4:11-12). Notice it says to perfect and equip Christians to do their work of ministering toward building up Christ’ body (Church).
Jesus’ plan for His Church body was for all, leaders and Saints to win souls to Christ bringing them to church to be trained to also go win souls to bring to Church to also be trained to go win souls to bring to Church, etc. etc. Yes, His plan is a perpetual plan. Yet, regardless of what this world may look like or the downward direction it’s heading, God is at work changing and building His end time army for the last of last days, and the gates of hell will not prevail.
Okay, let me be a little personal. As I write this book I am 77 years old, (today 81). I can remember when most churches would not come together, instead run down other churches if they wore not in their organization. Today most of Christian world is trying to work together which is good in Jesus’ eyes. The Holy spirit becomes active when the body of Christ recognizes that the rest of the body of Christ is also necessary for them too. Remember what Jesus prayed: “I pray for them (believers) not for the world, that they be one as We are One, Not of world as I am not of world. As You (God) sent Me into the world, I sent them into the world that they all may be one, as You Father are in Me, and I in You; also be one in Us. I in them, You in Me”, (John 17).
No, Jesus was not talking about each person doing more than Jesus individually. He was talking about the body of Christ (Church) doing more as an entire body. He did not want His ministry to be separated into divisions where one part of His body was more important than other parts. The importance of Jesus’ ministry was its unity of many parts working together as one body with Jesus as the head. Think of it this way: If one of your lets decided it wanted to go its own direction, would that affect the entire body, of course. Today, the body of Christ has many parts going their own direction creating the body of Christ a crippled body needing each other and Jesus badly.
Let me end with a little true story that’s funny. I spoke at a Pastors conference of several hundred pastors painting a verbal picture of the body of Christ. I started with saying: If someone could listen to every preacher and draw one picture that summed up all their teachings as Head and body of Christ today would be freak. The picture would look like one giant head with thousands of little necks sticking out all around the head attached to little bodies. I continued by saying that some of us leaders and Saints are fingers, toes, hands, arms, shoulders, necks, as one body. I then said, if a finger was cut off it would affect the rest of our hand. A cut off foot would give us walking problems. Yes, like our physical body is made up by many parts, all different, they work as on body with one head running the show. Yes, Jesus wants his body connect so we can accomplish the purpose He created us for. So, yes all Saints need the leaders to train them, but the leaders need the Saints to help increase His church body, so Jesus needs both leaders and Saint working together as a healthy body reaching out to this world with Him. God’s plan from creation to now!
Have a wonder day this Sunday with the Lord.
