This is taken from 7 steps in my book: “THE CALL TO REVIVAL”. Each step has 3 chapters. STEP 1, is “Understanding Jesus’ Plan”: as we begin our journey from Salvation to walking by the Spirit we begin by asking one simple question: Why did Jesus come? Answer is easy: Jesus has a perfect plan for us! We were created in the image of God. This is a scriptural truth. The devil tried to ruin that image by getting people to sin, which separates us from God. More than anything, God wants people to be saved and brought back into a relationship with Him. Jesus did have a purpose and a perfect plan for reaching out to us, you important to Him. Through this step one, may you sense His presence and His purpose for you!
STEP 2, is “Jesus Changes Everything at the Cross”: without any doubt whatsoever, our future was secured at the Cross of Jesus. The cross affects us and in the most radical ways. Through this step we can discover some of the way Jesus on cross really does for us. In step one, we discovered Jesus had a plan. That plan was subverted by our enemy Satan. First thing we are usually told about cross is that Jesus died on cross for us. That is true and where we begin. Our sins were paid for at the cross. We was brought back into relationship with Jesus through the cross, and also shows us how horrible sin is. The cross demonstrates that sin leads to death. It also is the path that leads us back to God’s original purpose. God has always intended we take dominion over the world and live out our relationship with Him. The cross has brought about our feelings, our healings and our delivery from earth’s cures. 1 Cor 1:18 says it this way: “for the message of cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God”.
STEP 3, “The Church Must Get Back on Track”: just look at the newspapers today and you might read stories of churches leaders behaving is ways that are far below the things Jesus has called them for. Visit many churches today and you might hear about all sorts of things. You wouldn’t be alone if you asked the question, “is the Church of track?’. The church was designed to be a physical representation of Christ. We are called the Body of Christ. In this third step, we explore the calling of the church. God has designed the church to be effective. We will look at our purposes in light of the gifts and offices He has given to church and individual Christians. We will also look at the ways the church is getting back on track.
STEP 4, talks about: “God’s Plan of Salvation and Empowered”: Salvation in its simplest explanation is the act of being saved. We might ask the question: What are we being saved from? That answer involves a long discussion. In short, we are saved from all things which steal life from us and place us in bondage by curse caused by Adam and Eve. We are saved from the loneliness we experience by living life apart from God. Through blood of Christ, we are saved! If we could reach into heaven and talk to those experiencing their salvation completely, we would probably be dancing and praising God, knowing we are completely loved.
STEP 5, “The Equipping of Church”: Sorrowfully, many followers of Christ have become disillusioned with the modern Church. It has caused many to abandon going to church all together. Yes, it is the Church that Jesus called to transform our communities. Yet, it is the Church that Jesus called to transform our communities. It is the local church that is called to lead people to Christ and help train them how to serve Him. When people get saved, they automatically are part of Gods’ universal Body. God has built His Body (Church) so we would be the greatest power on Earth! We are to help usher in the very presence of Christ in this world. If we are going to get the world ready for His return, we must be united, each one using their gifts for not only the benefit of one another but for all. During this fifth step we are going to look at how Christ equipped His Church spiritually and ways we fit together for His greatest effect in unity, to battle world, He has already proved for us.
STEP 6, covers: “The Design of the Church”, No architect would veer start construction of a new building without first deciding what from the building was to have. An architect would first ask the question, “how is the building to be used?” “For what purpose are you building this building?” God designed His Church Body! He has plans for the His Church body. The church is to serve a greater good. The local church body today will do many things. They will sing praise songs. Often, someone will preach a message. Someone cleans the building. The church may run various programs: bus ministry, Sunday school, outreach programs, etc. In Step Six we begin to look at the ways that God put His Church together, in order to fulfill His God-given role. So, we do see the design and designer in many ways, “spiritual gifts and how the body fits together!
STEP 7, “Walking in the Spirit”, just take a few minutes and look through your concordance and you will see the Bible has quite a lot to say about the Holy Spirit. The world is interested and becoming more sensitive to the need for spiritual things. The world knows that what we see with our natural eyes is not all that there is. In this last step we are going to address God’s Holy Spirit. We want you to know that this step is the key to the answer you are looking for Are you looking for spiritual insight? Do you want a firm foundation of faith? Do you want to walk in spiritual power? Yes, God wants to give you power for living. Much of the church world has been ignoring the Holy Spirit. Since the beginning, it has been in the heart of God that His Spirit would dwell in people. Walking in the Holy Spirit is a great adventure! Check out John 14:15-17.
In this time of corruption and immorality, we the body of Christ, called His Church have a calling to bring spiritual victory into the lives of communities. The Body of Christ was not created to sit on the sidelines as spectators. Rather, our mission is to actively participate in preparing our world for Jesus’ return. Yes, our job is getting it all set up for Jesus’ return. Our job is not to wait until Jesus returns and get us set up. The truth is that it’s our job to get it set up so Jesus can return. Yes again, I wrote 8 books based on these subjects the Lord gave me through His Word and Open Visions between 1974 and 2015 concerning the days we’ve entered. Pastor Robert D. Shipman
